Former Rev. Jesse Jackson Employee Puts Civil Rights Leader on Blast

A former employee of Reverend Jesse Jackson is making some shocking allegations against his ex-boss after he says he was fired from Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition for being gay. 55-year-old Tommy R. Bennett has since filed a discrimination complaint with Chicago’s Commission on Human Relations, saying Jackson forced him to perform “uncomfortable” tasks, including escorting various women to hotel rooms to meet Jackson for sex.
Here’s what Tommy Bennett had to say:

“I did everything from escorting women to and from Jackson’s hotel room and cleaning up after sexual intercourse, to fetching erectile dysfunctional pills for Jackson and, in one instance, I was asked to apply ointment to a rash on Jackson’s inner thigh.
I would of never apply (sic) for a job to pack his clothes, clean up the hotel room after he met different folks there, buy his underclothes. But I tried my best because I loved serving my community, and before my feelings, I put my community first.”

Here’s a statement from Rev. Jesse Jackson’s camp:
“The Rainbow PUSH Coalition and Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., unequivocally deny Tommy Bennett’s false claims of harassment, retaliation and discrimination. We are fully cooperating with the Chicago Commission on Human Relations and expect to be fully exonerated. Bennett’s inflammatory allegations are an attempt to malign Rev. Jackson and the organization, and are hurtful and harmful to the progressive community.”

Bennett may be shaking things up, but his fight isn’t looking good. Know why? Because the Chicago commission has been investigating his complaint for two-years, but have yet to come up with a verdict. That’s because no one is talking mane. So, until Tommy Bennett comes up with some sort of proof to back his claims, many will assume that he’s bitter from losing his dream job.
